In a pack, the level of respect a dog is treated with is considered by their status. The ranks go as followed:
Alpha: The alpha is the highest rank, and is second to no one. The alpha is responsible for watching, guarding, and ruling over the pack in various situations. For instance, overseeing a challenge, holding a naming ceremony, and deciding if a pack needs to move. Although, the Alpha usually converses with his/her Beta in some cases.
Beta: The Beta is the second in command, following the orders of the Alpha. The Beta usually decides patrols, and helps rule either in emergencies or in the Alphas absence. The beta is shown slightly less respect than the Alpha, but is still far up. The Beta is still to be obeyed at all times, unless their decisions are challenged by the Alpha.
Mother Dogs: Mother Dogs are dogs who've given pups to a pack. They are treated with the utmost respect.
Hunt Dogs: The hunt dogs are usually the most senior dogs of the pack, or dogs who've worked their way up. They are the third most respected dogs in the pack, but rank significantly lower than the Beta. Their main responsibility is to hunt for the pack, but Alpha and Beta may sometimes seek their advice in a crisis.
Patrol Dogs: Patrol Dogs are only second to last in the line up of respect, and only patrol the borders. They are usually dogs that are good fighters, and tend to be more outgoing. They are lower than Hunt Dogs, but do not take orders from them.
Omega: Omegas are the lowest on the chain, and are usually treated with minimal respect or seriousness. They try to keep the pack happy and do all the chores. Only one Omega resides in a pack.
