Puppyhood Names
When a pup is born, they receive a one word name based on their actions when they are born. Names like Yip, Whine, Squeak, and Wiggle, (All references from the Survivors series.) are considered pup names, because they are innocent and fun. Names like Sharp, Dagger, and Brute, aren't considered pup names because they carry a serious tone.
Growing to an adult
When a pup grows in their adult teeth, they are considered full members of their pack. (Or full dogs to non pack members.) In a pack, the traditional ceremony is to kill a white rabbit and skin it's coat off. The pup is to sit on the white fur under a moonlit sky and gaze at the moon. It is at this time the pup is to decide what it's own Dog Name will be. Things like Lick, Grunt, and Toot aren't considered Dog Names. Thorn, Snap, and Spring are considered dog names. A Dog Name ceremony is only carried out under the eye of the Alpha, and otherwise won't be effective. Once a dog is named, it cannot be undone.
So take this into mind when naming your dog, and choose well!
